MiraCosta Volleyball Battles Back to Defeat Long Beach in Four Sets
The MiraCosta women's volleyball team opened its 2025 season in impressive fashion, rallying for a 3–1 road victory over Long Beach City College on Wednesday night. After a slow start, the Spartans settled in and claimed the match by set scores of 16–25, 26–24, 27–25, 25–23.
MiraCosta showcased a balanced attack with four players recording seven or more points. Sophomore middle blocker Feagaiga Naotala led the way with a team-high 10 kills, 14 digs, and five solo blocks, finishing with 17 points. Freshman opposite Morgan Greene was flawless in her debut, tallying five kills on five attempts (.1000) and contributing four blocks.
On the outside, Willow Snow added eight kills, 13 digs, and two aces, while Mikayla Negrette was a difference-maker off the bench with seven kills on an outstanding .538 hitting percentage to go with two aces.
Setter Millie Miller directed the offense with 28 assists and chipped in three aces, two blocks, and seven digs for a well-rounded performance. Defensively, libero Abigale Glassett anchored the back row with 11 digs, while Sara Lewis and Chloe Fraser each provided strong blocking at the net.
As a team, MiraCosta hit .281 on the night and out-blocked Long Beach 15–5, turning the tide after the opening set loss. The Spartans also found success from the service line with 11 aces.
The win gives MiraCosta a 2–0 start to the 2025 campaign as the Spartans look to build momentum heading into their home opener later this week.
