MiraCosta Powers Past Imperial Valley, Maintains Second Place In Conference

Oceanside, CA — The MiraCosta Spartans continued their push toward the 3C2A state tournament with an emphatic sweep over Imperial Valley College on Friday evening. The Spartans dominated from the opening serve, winning in straight sets, 25-12, 25-13, and 25-15. This victory, MiraCosta's second in a row, strenghtens their hold on second place in the conference standings.

MiraCosta's offensive onslaught was led by standout performances from Daysha Halbert and Sarah Campo-Sanchez. Halbert recorded a match-high 13 kills, hitting an impressive .435, while Campo-Sanchez tallied 10 kills with a remarkable .625 hitting percentage. Alexis Jones also contributed 10 kills, showing her prowess at the net, and added two service aces.

Setter Megan Jo Martin orchestrated the attack with 42 assists, ensuring a balanced offensive effort that kept Imperial Valley off guard. Martin also contributed defensively with four digs and two block assists.

On defense, Sidnie Giddings-Parker anchored the back row with a team-high 23 digs, while libero Eli Zdravecky added 13 digs to stymie Imperial Valley's efforts. Tori Tingum showcased her versatility, notching seven kills and leading the team in total blocks with five (three solo, two assisted).

Kayona Feliciano-Taele made her presence felt at the net, adding three blocks and five kills to MiraCosta's defensive and offensive efforts. Sara Lewis also stepped up in critical moments to provide stability in the backcourt.

The Spartans displayed their depth, with contributions from across the lineup. Their defensive intensity and offensive precision have been key factors in their recent success, including a solid win against Southwestern College earlier in the week.
