The Spartans are making noise early this season!
The Spartans are making noise early this season! After a strong 4-1 start, MiraCosta women's volleyball has climbed into the state rankings at No. 20 and sits No. 11 in Southern California in the latest CCCWVCA poll.
MiraCosta has shown plenty of fight in the opening weeks, winning three matches that went the distance. The Spartans pulled out thrillers over San Bernardino Valley, Cerritos (16-14 in the fifth set), and Canyons (15-7 in the fifth set). Add in a road win at Long Beach, and the Spartans are proving they can battle with anyone.
Statistically, the team has been sharp on both sides of the net. The Spartans are hitting an impressive .263 with nearly 2.5 service aces per set, while also locking down defensively with 15.5 digs and 2.3 blocks per set.
"This ranking shows the heart and hard work this team is putting in," said head coach Rylee Arispe. "But we know this is just the beginning — we're hungry for more."
Next up, MiraCosta takes on Mt. San Jacinto and East Los Angeles on September 10 before returning home for key conference matchups. Spartan fans — come pack the stands and cheer on your nationally ranked squad!
