EL CAJON, Calif. — October 17, 2025 — The MiraCosta College women's soccer team delivered an offensive showcase on the road Friday afternoon, defeating Cuyamaca College 9–0 in a commanding performance that highlighted the depth and creativity of the Spartan attack.
Kristal Hernandez led the way with a hat trick and an assist, scoring twice in the second half to seal MiraCosta's largest win of the season. Hailey Benito was the engine in midfield, contributing a goal and an impressive three assists, while Adile Oceguera added a goal and two assists of her own.
The Spartans controlled possession from the opening whistle, jumping out to a 6–0 halftime lead behind goals from Oceguera (5'), Hernandez (14'), Martina Ertz (22'), Danica Bonds (26'), Benito (33'), and Amslee Mikichi (45'). MiraCosta continued to press forward after the break, with Hernandez scoring twice more (54', 60') before a team goal in the 77th minute and Brooklyn Fritz capping the scoring in the 84th minute off an assist from Bridget Marino.
Defensively, MiraCosta was flawless. Goalkeeper Monica Martinez and the Spartan backline did not allow a single shot on goal, recording the clean sheet in a complete team effort.
The victory improves MiraCosta's record and adds momentum as the Spartans continue conference play, showcasing a balanced squad capable of scoring in bunches while maintaining defensive discipline.
