Oceanside, CA — The MiraCosta College women's soccer team put together a dominant second-half performance to earn a 3-0 victory over West LA on Friday afternoon at home.
After a scoreless opening half, the Spartans came alive following the break. In the 48th minute, Hailey Benito opened the scoring off a well-placed assist from Aaliyah Arce. MiraCosta doubled its lead in the 60th minute when Bridget Marino scored a beautiful free kick. Alison Lambert then capped the scoring in the 75th minute, converting on a pass from Adile Oceguera.
The Spartans controlled possession throughout the match, finishing with 18 shots on goal and earning three corner kicks. Goalkeeper Monica Martinez recorded four saves to secure the clean sheet.
With the win, MiraCosta improves its early-season momentum and showcased its depth with contributions across the midfield and attack. The Spartans will look to build on this strong performance as they continue non-conference play.
