MiraCosta Women's Basketball Climbs to No. 5 in State, Remains Unbeaten at 19-0
OCEANSIDE — The MiraCosta College women's basketball team continues its historic start to the 2025–26 season, rising to No. 5 in the latest CCCWBCA State Top 25 rankings while remaining undefeated at 19-0.
The Spartans moved up one spot in the January 20 poll and are now firmly established among the state's elite as conference play gains momentum. MiraCosta is one of the final undefeated teams in California and currently sits fourth in the CCCWBCA South Region rankings.
Sophomore point guard Anayla Anderson was recognized for her impact on both ends of the floor, earning Pacific Coast Athletic Conference Athlete of the Month honors for December. Anderson leads the team in assists and steals and has been a catalyst for MiraCosta's pressure defense and fast-paced offense throughout the season.
The Spartans have built their perfect record with a balanced attack, depth across the roster, and a defense that consistently disrupts opponents. MiraCosta continues to control the glass, force turnovers at a high rate, and convert defensive stops into transition opportunities.
This week presents another important conference test as the Spartans return home on Wednesday to host San Diego City College, before hitting the road to face Southwestern College on Friday.
Both games will play a key role in the PCAC race as MiraCosta looks to maintain its undefeated record and continue its climb toward the postseason.
